Registration Open: AMPRAW 2015

Registrations Open: AMPRAW 2015

Conference Dates: 14-15 December 2015

It is with great pleasure that we announce that registration for the fifth Annual Meeting of Postgraduates in the Reception of the Ancient World is now open. AMPRAW 2015 will be a two-day conference providing UK and international postgraduate students from all disciplines with the opportunity to present their research to the growing academic community focusing on classical reception.

Building on the success of recent AMPRAWs, this year’s focus is ‘Orthodoxy and Dissent’. This theme relates to many aspects of reception studies, and the conference includes panels on literary, material and visual culture, translation studies, and political thought.

The exciting agenda includes a keynote speech by Dr Gideon Nisbet, whose latest work has focused on reception of epigram (including a translation of Martial), and a workshop by Clare Pollard, the poet who recently published a contemporary verse translation of Ovid’s ‘Heroides’. An evening reception and entertainment on Monday 14th December have been arranged in partnership with Nottingham’s Centre for Ancient Drama and its Reception (CADRE).

A small number of bursaries (up to £100 each) are available to conference-goers and speakers alike. Details on how to apply will appear on our website shortly.

The subsidised conference fee is £15 per delegate if you register by 15th November (rising to £20 thereafter), which includes conference packs, refreshments, a wine reception and two buffet lunches. To register, please click here.

There will also be a conference dinner on the 14th December, which can be booked during registration at a cost of £20 for a three course Italian meal.
