Post-Doctoral Position, Chair for Science Studies, ETH Zürich
The Chair for Science Studies, ETH Zürich, offers a three-year post-doctoral position (80%), to begin on 1 January 2014.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in the history of science or a related field (obtained no longer than five years ago); and it is desirable, but not essential, that he or she will pursue a research project in one of the following main areas:
- The history of the humanities (any period).
- The history of the life- and human sciences in the 20th century.
- Global/transnational history of science (including non-Western science).
It is expected that candidates are able to conduct their own research, and fulfill their teaching duties, independently and from an interdisciplinary perspective. The position is initially limited to a period of three years; it may however be extended to up to six years.The possibility of pursuing a “Habilitation” is also available.
Apart from the usual documents, applicants should supply a short research proposal outlining their project; a writing sample (published article or dissertation chapter); and the names and addresses of two referees who may be contacted in order to obtain letters of recommendation.
