Aristotle_ercPhD Fellowship in Renaissance Philosophy at the University of Ca’ Foscari (Venice)

The University of Ca’ Foscari (Venice) is announcing a PhD fellowship in Philosophy within the field of vernacular Aristotelian physics in Renaissance Italy. The Fellowship arises from an ERC Starting Investigator Grant that has just gotten underway between the Universities of Ca’ Foscari (Venice, Dipartimento di Filosofia e Beni Culturali) and Warwick (Department of Italian) centred on Aristotle in the Italian Vernacular: Rethinking Renaissance and Early-Modern Intellectual History (c. 1400-c. 1650). The project will run from 2014 to 2019.

It is expected that candidates will have an excellent command of Italian and a familiarity with medieval/Renaissance philosophy. The deadline for applications is 29 May, and the instructions for applying may be found on p. 13 of the following link. For further information, please contact the project’s PI, Marco Sgarbi (marco.sgarbi@unive.it).

For more information, please see the project website.
