Conference Registration

This registration webpage is for ISIH2017: “The Rethinking of Religious Belief in the Making of Modernity” (American University in Bulgaria, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, May 30 – June 1, 2017).

Preliminary Notes

Please read the following notes, before proceeding with registration as described in the below “registration procedure”:

  • The registration deadline is March 31, 2017.
  • Due to space availability and time constraints, only conference speakers, whose paper proposals have been accepted by the Organizing Committee, can register for, and participate in, this conference.
  • All prices in these notes and in the registration form are in BGN – Bulgarian Leva (1 BGN = 0.51129 EUR) (1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN).
  • The registration fee amounts to BGN 240.00 (i.e. EUR 122.71), VAT included. The registration fee cannot be waived or reduced and is inclusive of the scientific program, three buffet lunches, the conference banquet, coffee breaks, Wi-Fi connection at the conference venue, a trip to the Rila Monastery, the conference folder, and other services provided to all participants.
  • Several options for accommodation in Blagoevgrad are described in the updated downloadable info sheet. AUBG also offers on-campus accommodation in single occupancy ensuite rooms in its residence halls (only for conference participants) for a total of BGN 284.00 for four nights (check-in May 29, check-out June 2, 2017). If you choose on-campus accommodation, please tick the respective box in the registration form and add this amount (i.e. BGN 284.00) to the sum you have to pay. (Please see the below “registration procedure” for more details).
  • Several options for transportation from Sofia Airport to Blagoevgrad, and back, are described in the updated downloadable info sheet. AUBG also offers car transfer from Sofia Airport to Blagoevgrad, and back, for BGN 100.00 each way for 1 person (only for conference participants). If you choose AUBG-provided car transfer from and/or to Sofia Airport, please tick the respective box(es) in the registration form and add the respective amount(s) (i.e. BGN 100.00 each way) to the sum you have to pay. (Please see the below “registration procedure” for more details).
  • Due to space limitations, only conference participants can attend the banquet.
  • If you bring one or a few family members or friends with you to Bulgaria, they will be welcome to join the trip by coach to the Rila Monastery for no additional charge: in this case, please inform the conference convenor, Prof. Diego Lucci, by no later than March 31, 2017 via email at: dlucci@aubg.edu
  • Information on visa requirements to enter Bulgaria (which is a member country of the European Union) is in the updated downloadable info sheet. Each participant is responsible for obtaining their visa, if needed. If you need an official letter of invitation to the conference, please contact the Coordinator of the AUBG Conference Office, Ms. Radosveta Miltcheva, via email at: rmiltcheva@aubg.edu
  • Before registering for the conference, please make sure that you may attend this academic event. Fees paid for registration and for AUBG-provided optional services will not be returned for any reason or circumstance, including denial of visa and last-minute withdrawal. Your signature of the registration form and your payment of the above fees imply acceptance of this policy.

Registration Procedure

To register for the conference and to select AUBG-provided optional services (i.e. on-campus accommodation and car transfer from and/or to Sofia Airport), and to pay for registration and for the optional services you select, please follow these steps:

1: Print, complete, sign, and scan the PDF registration form.

All prices in the registration form are in BGN – Bulgarian Leva (1 BGN = 0.51129 EUR) (1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN).

The last box of the registration form asks you to calculate and write the total amount you have to pay:

  • If you have chosen none of the optional services provided by AUBG (i.e. on-campus accommodation and car transfer from and/or to Sofia Airport), the total amount to pay, which you have to write in the last box of the registration form, is the same as the registration fee in BGN – Bulgarian leva, i.e. 240.00.
  • If you have chosen some or all of the optional services provided by AUBG and, therefore, you have ticked the respective box(es), please calculate the total amount to pay (in BGN – Bulgarian leva) and write this amount in the last box of the registration form, e.g.:
  • 340.00 (for registration and ONE-WAY car transfer from OR to Sofia Airport);
  • 440.00 (for registration and RETURN car transfer from AND to Sofia Airport);
  • 524.00 (for registration and on-campus accommodation);
  • 624.00 (for registration, on-campus accommodation, and ONE-WAY car transfer from OR to Sofia Airport);
  • 724.00 (for registration, on-campus accommodation, and RETURN car transfer from AND to Sofia Airport);

Please note: also if you decide to pay via wire transfer in EUR – euros (please see point 2c below for more details), the total amount written in the registration form must be in BGN – Bulgarian leva.

2: Pay the total amount, inclusive of the registration fee and of the optional services you have selected, if any:

You may choose one of the following three payment methods (i.e. 2a: online in BGN, 2b: wire transfer in BGN, or 2c: wire transfer in EUR):

2a: online in BGN (Bulgarian leva) by credit card or debit card, i.e. Visa (including Visa Electron), Master Card, Maestro, Diners/Discover, Borica: please use the Internet Explorer browser and follow these steps:
  1. Go to the English webpage for online payments to AUBG at this link: https://www.aubg.edu/payments
  2. In this webpage, please choose the last option (“E-pay payment”) and give the following details in the respective fields:
  • Email: your email address (please give the same email address you gave when submitting your paper proposal)
  • Payment purpose: Your Name for ISIH Conference (e.g.: John Doe for ISIH Conference).
  • Amount: the total sum you have to pay in BGN, for registration and optional services, if any (e.g.: 240.00 for registration only; 340.00 for registration and ONE-WAY car transfer from OR to Sofia Airport; etc. Please see point 1 above for all specific amounts.)
  • After giving the above details, please click the “E-pay now” button, which is below the fields with the details of payment.
  1. Upon clicking the “E-pay now” button, you will be redirected to a webpage with a summary of the details of your payment and two options for payment, i.e. “Log in” and “Payment with card”: please click the “Payment with card” button.
  2. You will be redirected to another webpage with a summary of the details of your payment and the “Payment with card” button: in this webpage too, please click the “Payment with card” button.
  3. At this point, you will be redirected to still another webpage to give the details of your credit card or debit card (i.e.: Card brand, Card number, Expiry date, and CVV2/CVC2 code, if appropriate). Upon entering the details of your card, please click the “Pay now” button to start the payment process, which will take a few seconds.
  4. After processing the payment, you will automatically be redirected to a webpage confirming successful payment: PLEASE PRINT AND SCAN THIS WEBPAGE, which you will need in the next step of the registration procedure. (Please see point 3 below.) (PLEASE NOTE: if you are automatically redirected from this webpage to the AUBG website after a few seconds, and you still have to print it, just click the back button in your Internet Explorer browser to go back to the webpage confirming successful payment. Moreover, this webpage will be saved in your Internet Explorer browser history, where you may find it in a folder entitled “epay”.)

3: Send, AS ATTACHMENTS TO ONE EMAIL, the following documents to the AUBG Conference Office at this email address: Conference@aubg.edu
  • A scan of the COMPLETED AND SIGNED REGISTRATION FORM (see point 1 above).
  • A scan of the WEBPAGE CONFIRMING SUCCESSFUL ONLINE PAYMENT, or the scan of a DOCUMENT FROM YOUR BANK SHOWING PAYMENT VIA WIRE TRANSFER. (If you scan and submit a document from your bank, please feel free to erase sensible data, such as your bank account number and other details you prefer not to disclose).

You may also use the above materials to apply to your home institution for reimbursement of conference fees. However, if you also need an official receipt from AUBG, please ask for it in the email in which you submit the above registration materials.

Emails with the above registration materials must be sent to this address: Conference@aubg.edu

4: You will receive, via email, an acknowledgment of receipt of your registration materials from the AUBG Conference Office in due course: please save this acknowledgment of receipt for your records.

The registration procedure is complete only upon receipt of this acknowledgment email from the AUBG Conference Office.
